Community Councils - Administration Grant

Administration grants for community councils.

In accordance with the Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils, Argyll and Bute Council, upon production of the approved independently examined accounts (and minutes of the AGM where the accounts were approved), may provide an administrative grant to community councils.  The administration grant is the funding provided by the Local Authority to cover the basic costs of running a community council and may also be topped up with a discretionary grant upon application.  Acceptable use of the administration and/or discretionary grant include the following:

  • Auditors' fees
  • Consultation with the community
  • Data protection
  • Production and circulation of minutes, agenda and annual reports or other Community Council documentation
  • Stationery
  • Photocopying
  • Postage
  • Travel costs
  • Telephone costs
  • Accommodation lets
  • Affiliation fees
  • Subscriptions
  • Bank charges
  • Advertising
  • General publicity, promotional and ceremonial activities
  • Honoraria to the Community Council secretary or treasurer

Grant funding can be accessed by forwarding the AGM minutes and approved accounts by email to communitycouncils@argyll-bute.gov.uk  or by sending a hard copy to the Community Council Liaison Officer, Kilmory, Lochgilphead, Argyll, PA31 8RT.
