About the artist
Carole Gibbons (born Glasgow, 1935) studied at Glasgow School of Art, where her friendship with fellow student Alan Fletcher was an important influence. She held her first one-woman show in her Renfrew Street studio, from where she sold paintings to the poet J.F. Henry. With his encouragement she travelled to Europe, living and working in Spain. She returned to Glasgow in 1967.
