About the artist
Jennifer Hex (born London, 1938- 2016) studied printmaking at Glasgow School of Art, and taught at Beith High School and Campbeltown Grammar. Without access to printmaking facilities at Campbeltown Grammar, she began to make textiles, manipulating, stitching and embroidering in a variety of techniques of her own invention. She was facinated by the natural world, in movement or flux, and her work was a way of understanding the world, and encouraging the viewer to see, notice and understand natural occurances that we might easily overlook. She exhibited with the new Scottish Embroidery Group in Edinbugh and her work is held is several public collections, including National Museums Scotland and Glasgow Museums.
