Bowmore Primary Gaelic

Bowmore Primary is a semi-open plan building situated to the west of the village of Bowmore, but within a few minutes walk of the centre, shops and main facilities. It hosts a Gaelic Medium Unit and a pre-school unit for both mainstream and Gaelic pupils alongside the mainstream school.

Its catchment area is that of the village and its environs but the Gaelic unit is open to children across Islay and Jura.

We are well supported by our School Board, a fully committed PTA and a hard working Comann nam Parant group, who all take an active interest in the work and development of the school as a whole.

The school is non-denominational and co-educational. The main aim of the school is to help each child as an individual to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills needed for a life as a good citizen.

HMIE inspection Reports:

HM Inspectorate of Education (HMIE) inspects and reports on the quality of education in pre-school centres, primary schools, secondary schools, special schools, community learning and development services, colleges, and residential educational provision.

You can read and download any inspection reports for this school, and find out more about the inspection process on the Education Scotland website.
