Strath of Appin Primary School

Bun Sgoil Srath na h-Apainne - Strath of Appin Primary School is a modern, single storey, open-plan school, completed in 1975. It has all necessary facilities, including its own kitchen and a dining area that doubles as our gym.

The most northerly school in mainland Argyll and Bute, it is only 4 miles from the border with Highland Council. Appin is a rural area of outstanding scenic beauty with a total population of approximately 420. Fully integrated into the school we have Gaelic Medium and Pre School provision.

Our school consists of two separate but linked sections – mainstream, or English Medium, and Gaelic Medium. These two sections are capable of providing education independently, but often, and in line with the ethos of the school and the agreement of the whole parent body, work together ensuring that our pupils receive the best opportunities possible within our school’s unique context. As in all walks of life, we sometimes have to compromise when there are conflicting demands on pupils’ education.
