The Cormonachan Community Woodlands (Scottish Charity No: SC050840) are 63.9 ha (158 acres) of ancient Atlantic oak & hazel woodlands
and part of Scotland’s Rainforest and have the status of being ‘Ancient Semi Natural Woodlands’ (ASNW)
being preserved for Conservation, Education and Recreation, with oaks of 300 years old or more
and with areas of old coppiced hazel probably from at least 100 years ago. 

The woodlands are currently used for educational purposes by Ardroy Outdoor Education Centre, (AOEC Trust Ltd.) school and youth groups and by Lochgoil Primary School for projects and for recreational walks by local residents of Carrick Castle, Lochgoilhead and visitors to the area.

We are happy to allow marriages to take place in our approved Contemplation Shelter in Cormonachan Community Woodlands. 

Whilst we don’t charge a fee, we would expect a reasonable donation (minimum £50) to be made to our ‘Cormonachan Community Woodlands Maintenance Fund. (Details can be found on website)

Our woodlands north car park has space for 8 cars parked tidily. The Contemplation Shelter is a 5 minute walk up the hill from the car park and has outstanding views over Loch Goil.

We have a policy of ‘Leave No Trace’ – so nothing must be left behind after the event.
