We Love Weddings!
The Argyll and Bute Registrar’s love weddings and one of the most special things for us is to get feedback from you afterwards and to see your lovely pictures to remember the special day.
If you have been married by one of the Argyll and Bute Registrar’s we would love to hear from you, your feedback means the world to us!
From the second I spoke to Jane on the phone, she put me at ease and made me believe that getting married over 2 hours away from home was possible. She helped us navigate our way through every aspect of the process - the paperwork, the vows , etc. She was just as lovely as I thought when we met her in person - so professional yet personable, supportive, helpful. On the day of our wedding, she conducted our ceremony so beautifully, putting everyone instantly at ease. Without Jane, we would never have been able to have our dream day, we will be forever grateful

Samantha was absolutely lovely! She made our day so special, and she was willing to do a Spanish/english ceremony, making our family feel closer to us. There’s not enough words to express how much we appreciate Samantha’s work and her good vibe throughout the year planning the wedding. We think any bride and groom would be lucky to have her on their special day 🙂

Gemma was incredibly helpful and did a great job at making us both feel at ease during the planning process, filling in our paperwork and throughout the actual ceremony, even when our 2 year old decided to join us in saying our vows! The ceremony was personal, quick and enjoyed by everyone in the party, we can’t thank Gemma enough!

We had a sensational wedding at Crear on the 8th October and would like to take this opportunity to thank our brilliant registrar Lorna Wilson for her exemplary service. From the moment we first contacted her, the warmth and professionalism she showed to us through the whole process and to us and our guests throughout the ceremony made our special day the best it could be. Thank you Lorna, you’re a star!

Nicky Sturley was our registrar for the day. A lovely and helpful lady throughout the whole process . Previously met up with Nicky to go through documentation prior to the day and very useful not having to go through this on the day. She made us feel so at ease and a very relaxed ceremony, which is what we wanted. I would highly recommend the service. Plus the beautiful location, we got married at Appin Bay View House on the balcony overlooking the Loch and Castle Stalker, loved every moment of it.

Our Wedding on Tiree was everything we dreamed of and more. Rona was a true professional from start to finish and could not have made the process any easier for us. Nothing was too much hassle for her. She was absolutely lovely.

It has been almost two weeks since our wedding and I can't stop thinking about it. Everything was so perfect, we couldn't have asked for a better day to celebrate our marriage. Catherine and Fiona were so helpful and patient, and always replied back to me promptly, which I am really grateful for. The ceremony felt so special and personal to us - Catherine did a fantastic job (especially as she had to compete with some very curious sheep!) and included everything we asked for. She was also more than happy to include my old teddy bear Pinky to be the official ring bear(er), which just added an extra perfect touch on the day. Pinky was most pleased to be included in such an important role and have such a big fuss made over her. Thank you again from the bottom of both our hearts for being a part of our special day.

We can’t thank Andrew enough for being a part of our special day! We got married in a remote part of Mull, in typical Mull fashion we had 4 seasons in a day. From the very beginning Andrew was up for the adventure, he was so helpful when it came to planning our day and went along with our wild adventure. The words he wrote for our marriage were so personal, even including our dog in them! When the heavens opened during the ceremony he checked in on us to make sure we were comfortable, with huge smiles on our faces we continued through the rain. Andrew brought a sense of fun to the ceremony and our guest said what a pleasure it was to watch him marry us. We really can’t thank you enough for making our wedding so memorable, we will treasure it forever. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Matt, Sasha and our lovable Labrador Oakey.

Thank you to Melanie for conducting our wonderful ceremony on the beach at Crear. We really enjoyed the handfasting element which made our ceremony feel extra special. The organisation/planning process was really straight forward and handled professionally by the Argyll and Bute Registrar team.

We had the most amazing wedding day; there are so many parts of our day that stood out to us, but our overall favourite part of the day was our ceremony. The location of our ceremony changed at the last minute due to wet weather and instead of being held outside in the courtyard of the hotel, was held in the main reception area. This provided an extremely intimate location where we were surrounded by our loved ones and the acoustics were great. Julie McLellan was our registrar and being a family friend, created the most personal ceremony that we could've had. She delivered the ceremony so eloquently and professionally on the day, but also had fantastic communication with both of us before the wedding regarding what we wanted out of our ceremony. We couldn't recommend Julie enough and will have these special memories from her wonderful ceremony forever. Thanks once again Julie

We were married in an outdoor ceremony at Castle House in Dunoon, and it was so special; all thanks to the collective efforts of the registry team in Dunoon and Argyll Weddings and Events. As we don't live in the area, our registrar Stephanie ensured there was communication at all times and made an effort to get to know us before the big day, to personalise our ceremony. We were able to tailor and proofread the ceremony beforehand, which allowed us to make it exactly what we wanted. As our ceremony was outdoors, we did worry that some of our guests may not be able to hear things clearly, but Stephanie spoke perfectly and our guests heard every word. We couldn't have been happier with the way things went! For the dressing of the venue we were recommended Linda from Argyll Weddings and Events, who liaised with the registry team to ensure our ceremony looked perfect. It was everything we wanted and more! All of our guests said they thought it was fab and they are still talking about the amazing time they had in Dunoon. Nothing was ever an issue in the run up to our big day and it went down perfectly! We followed our ceremony with dinner at Chatters restaurant, and then a ceilidh and disco at Dunoon Burgh Hall. Thank you again to Stephanie and the team in Dunoon - we loved every minute!

We'd like to give huge appreciation to The Isle of Bute for making our wedding day very special. We've been visiting Bute for years and as soon as we decided to elope it was the only place for us. Sandra and Samantha at Argyll and Bute Registrars supported us through the process with friendliness and ease from the beginning. They answered any questions quickly and encouraged us at each stage to have exactly what we wanted during the ceremony. We chose hand fasting, readings and songs that DJ Sandra organised for us. I didn't know a registry office could provide such an intimate, personal experience but this more than delivered, especially in its stunning surroundings - on top of a hill looking out over Rothesay and the sea. Planning our wedding was a little complicated as I was undergoing cancer treatment and didn't know what dates would work alongside appointments. Samantha and Sandra reassured us that things would be able to be rearranged if need be. Their consideration and support through planning made the whole experience peaceful and exciting, when it could have been stressful and daunting. We were able to organise everything on island, from my beautifully styled hair, Hair By Claire, stunning flowers, Flowers By Janine, and natural, care free photos by Paul Simpson. We also had an impromptu drink in Bute Yard who kindly gave us a goody bag full of merch and delicious gin. A few weeks after the wedding we even got a shout out on Bute Radio Station. Another highlight of all that the Isle of Bute, and its people, has to offer for important occasions. We are now celebrating being happily married and being cancer free. Thank you so much to everyone for making the day extra special. We are looking forward to returning to Bute to celebrate our one year anniversary in June 2024.

Our marriage ceremony was exactly as we wanted, just the two of us. Nicola & Alan helped us organise this, they were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you.

Elaine was so lovely and helpful throughout the whole process. She guided us through everything from what to include within our ceremony to keeping us all at ease, and making sure everything ran smoothly on the day. We honestly could not be more grateful for all of Elaine’s help, we could not have asked for a better person to conduct our ceremony.
