Helensburgh Waterfront Leisure Centre
The Storm has caused significant damage to the roof with debris blown across a wide area. Contractors and council officers have been on site since yesterday evening to progress the clear up operation. West Clyde Street had been closed for the safety of the public, but debris has been cleared sufficiently to allow it to re-open safely. Thank you to members of the public with their help with this and the community spirit shown.
Work continues to assess damage to the centre, and immediate and longer term actions required.
Helensburgh car park and access to the pier is closed as a public safety measure given the damage to Helensburgh Leisure Centre. Owners of cars parked in the car park are encouraged to remove their vehicles as soon as possible. The Council will support access, during daylight hours.
Ferries
Our council ferry services are running to timetables. Our teams were out since first light yesterday inspecting our ferry ports to check for damage and ensure they are safe for passengers and network services to operate from.
Storm Eowyn caused damage to the power cable that supplies the linkspan at Dunoon Pier. We are liaising with SSEN to have this checked. Once it has been deemed safe, our engineers are standing by to check there has been no damage to the linkspan itself.
Road network
Our teams have made good progress in clearing obstacles across the network.
Recovery work is still ongoing at points in the network. You can check our service updates for areas where we are still clearing roads.
