Northern Alliance role for senior officer

It has been confirmed today that Andrew Griffiths (Head of Education with Aberdeenshire Council) will be joining the Northern Alliance as Regional Improvement Lead.

His move will be on a seconded basis, and will begin in September 2018.

Jim Savege is the Chief Executive of Aberdeenshire Council. He said: “Everyone around the Northern Alliance table is watching with great interest to see how national policy will move forward in this important area. That places a great responsibility on the Regional Improvement Lead and I have confidence that Andrew will apply the rigour and drive needed to deliver for all eight partners, but also for the people to whom we provide fundamental education services.

Speaking when the news was released, Andrew said: “This is an exciting time in education. The Northern Alliance itself is a great way to ensure that councils are working together and that the focus on collaboration cannot be lost. Together we are all working to strengthen links, in the interests of children and young people at every stage of the education system. I look forward to engaging with all partners in this role”

The Northern Alliance is a partnership between 8 local authorities across Scotland which seeks to improve the educational and life chances of our children and young people. This is done through collaboration, building on the strengths of shared service development, creating professional networks and delivering continuous professional development. It exists to make a difference to the lives of children and young people by ensuring that the professionals who work with them collaborate for improvement and impact.

The next steps for his current role and any interim appointment will be considered in due course.
