Staff to get on their bike for charity

Energetic employees from across Argyll and Bute Council are getting on their bikes next month to cycle 2,053 miles in aid of Sport Relief.

Using spin-cycles at LiveArgyll leisure centres, staff will follow a virtual route around all 81 school establishments in the area, starting at Southend Primary in South Kintyre, and finishing up at Aringour Primary on the Isle of Coll.

The event will take place from 7am until 7pm on Friday 13 March, with staff participating for various lengths of time. For example, while some will take part during their lunch hour, and before and after work, others are taking annual leave and plan to cycle throughout the whole day.

The Council’s Policy Lead for Education, Councillor Yvonne McNeilly, said: “Wow - what a challenge! I take my hat off to everyone who is participating. We have dedicated and caring staff to be proud of at Argyll and Bute Council, and this is just another example of our employees, quite literally, going the extra mile. Well done everyone.”
