Improved local facilities and access to services with more employment opportunities are just some of the benefits investment in two Mull based community businesses will deliver.
Argyll and Bute Council has successfully secured over £1 million for the Nonhebel Light Industrial Park and Aros Waterfront Development Outdoor Activity Hub on the island. The funding comes from the latest round of Scottish Government’s Regeneration Capital Growth Fund (RCGF).
- Nonhebel Light Industrial Park expansion (£654,000)
Mull and Iona Community Trust completed the first phase of the business park in 2021. The site currently supports 20 businesses, 36 existing jobs and 13 new jobs. The success of the project has resulted in a business waiting list to move into the park. The funding will enable the site to expand and accommodate additional businesses, creating new skilled, all-year round jobs on the island.
- Aros Waterfront Development Outdoor Activity Hub (£403,500)
Tobermory Harbour Association purchased the Aros Waterfront Site in 2019 with a view to developing it on behalf of the local community. The RCGF funding, combined with council investment allocated through Crown Estate, will help transform the site into an outdoor hub offering outdoor activities, educational opportunities and community wellbeing.
