Scotland Loves Local Week runs from 26 August to 1 September and Argyll and Bute Council is encouraging communities to support local businesses by shopping locally.
Councillor Jim Lynch, the council’s Depute Policy Lead for Economic Development, Islands and Rural Communities, said: “Local businesses are the backbone of communities, providing essential services and supporting local employment, and we are extremely fortunate to have such a diverse range of great businesses here in Argyll and Bute, all of which add character to our towns.
“By supporting our local shops and businesses we are not just helping them to stay in business, we are supporting local employment, contributing to our local economy and helping to sustain vibrant town and village centres.
“The launch of the Argyll and Bute Gift Card has been a great way for people to show their support too and the scheme has gone from strength to strength since it started in 2021, with more than 300 businesses signed up across Argyll and Bute including restaurants, independent shops, experiences and visitor attractions. I would urge people to make a conscious effort to support their local businesses, not just during Scotland Loves Local Week, but all year round.”
