Argyll and Bute Council is holding a by-election for one vacancy in Ward 2, Kintyre and the Islands, on Thursday 18 July 2024.
Voters in Kintyre and the Islands will be asked to elect one councillor to represent the local communities which make up Ward 2.
To take part in this election, you must be registered to vote in the Kintyre and the Islands area. If you are not sure whether you are registered, you can check with the Electoral Registration Office on 01586 555300. They can send you out a registration form if you need one. You also have choices about how you cast your vote. If you can’t get to a polling station on the day, you can apply for a postal vote. You can also apply for a proxy vote, where someone casts your vote on your behalf.
For the Ward 2 by-election, the deadline for postal vote applications is 5pm on Wednesday 3 July. If you want to apply for a proxy vote, you need to do so by 5pm on Wednesday 10 July.
The dedicated Ward 2 By-Election web page has lots of information including details of polling places. It’s possible that your regular polling station may be different for this election so, if you plan to vote in person, please check the list or look at your polling card when it arrives – it will tell you where you need to go to cast your vote.
Voters in the Kintyre and the Islands ward may also want to take part in the UK General Election too. It’s important to note that there are different deadlines for registering to vote and applying for postal or proxy votes for each election. Please make sure you know where and how you can access your voting choices for both elections. There is more information about deadlines on our By-election page.
