Council sets its priorities to 2027

Growing Argyll and Bute’s economy and population is the driver for priorities agreed by the Council to 2027.

These priorities and related actions come under seven key categories:

  • Empowered and resilient communities
  • Making Argyll and Bute an attractive choice for families
  • Housing, economic growth, and population
  • Transport, infrastructure and digital connectivity
  • Environment
  • Sustainable service delivery
  • Speaking up for Argyll and Bute, its people and its communities

Actions agreed are wide ranging including for example, strengthening collaboration with communities; developing our school curriculum with the jobs of the future in mind; working to ensure that everyone who needs a home can find one they can afford; reducing council carbon emissions; reviewing, updating and communicating clear quality service standards that match local needs and available resources; and lobbying for policy, investment and action on key issues affecting Argyll and Bute’s chances of success, such as digital connectivity and a permanent solution for the A83.

Councillor Jim Lynch, Leader of Argyll and Bute Council said:

“Argyll and Bute’s future needs people to live and work here. And to live and work here, people need a healthy economy and supportive, sustainable lifestyle.

Our priorities are all therefore focused on economic and population growth for Argyll and Bute.

We cannot achieve this on our own, especially given the challenging times facing councils.

It is by everyone who cares about Argyll and Bute working together that we will achieve the best for our area. So standing up for Argyll and Bute and working with our communities to get things done will run through our work to deliver success for the area.”
