Give your views on public transport

Getting the best public transport service possible, within the budgets available – that’s the theme behind a review of how people use buses in Argyll and Bute.

Improving public transport helps take more cars off the road which in turn reduces carbon emissions and promotes a Climate Friendly Argyll and Bute. This can’t be achieved without evaluating local bus services and this involves listening to the experiences of the people who use them now, or who might use them in the future.

SYSTRA Ltd, an independent transport consultancy, is helping Argyll and Bute Council conduct a survey to understand how residents are using buses in Argyll and Bute and where improvements could be made.

The survey is now online and everyone with an interest in local transport is invited to take part. It will take no more than five minutes to complete.

Councillor John Armour, Policy Lead for Roads, Transport and Amenity Services, said: “If you care about your bus service, I would urge you to fill in the survey. We would be particularly keen to hear from younger people who I know find it difficult to travel independently to and from our villages and towns in the evening when public transport is more limited.

“Providing this level of public transport is something that Argyll and Bute Council does that many other local authorities don’t have to. Our budgets are limited, but your feedback will give us insight into how services are used day-to-day. With that information, we can work to provide services that connect more closely to local requirements.”
