A816 Cuilfail Hotel Bridge, Kilmelford

Phase 2 works have begun on A816-110 Cuilfail Hotel Bridge, Kilmelford, which means that traffic management (portable traffic lights) will be in place until works are complete. There is no weight restriction in place.

Traffic Management (portable traffic lights) are in place at A816 Cuilfail Hotel Bridge, Kilmelford, until Phase 2 works are completed.

No weight restriction is currently in place.

Key dates

Phase 1 - completed:

  • On 19/10/2023 the bridge was found to be severely damaged following two October 2023 weather events and it was demolished the same day,
  • The bridge was urgently replaced through emergency procedures and on 30/10/2023 was reopened to vehicles with a 3t MGW restriction,
  • On 02/11/2023 the 3t MGW weight restriction was removed from the bridge,

Phase 2 - underway:

  • Phase 2 works were able to follow a more traditional, non-emergency, design and consents process, and site works commenced 19/08/2024.
  • The majority of site works are programmed for completion in January 2025 although some works are subject to additional SEPA Licencing and cannot be carried out until Summer 2025.
  • Contractor shall be off site over the Christmas 2024 closedown period. The site will be left in a safe condition until 06/01/2025 when the Contractor returns to site.
  • Final elements of the Phase 2 works will be completed during January 2025.

Phase 3 - Summer 2025

  • Final phase of works to upstream north embankment are programmed for a circa five-week period of works during Summer 2025.
