Due to an ongoing issue with our recycling vehicle there are delays to the collection of blue bins on Islay

All commercial premises will be missed today and we are aware that household collections were missed in Port Charlotte and the west earlier in the week 

We will update our website once a new collection date is available

There will be no access from Colchester Square to Smiddy Lane (up to Icon Hairdressers) from 28th August 2022 to 30th June 2023, or until works are completed, whichever is earliest.

The rest of Smiddy Lane will be accessible through the entrance on Lorne Street.

Alternative routes will be signed appropriately

As part of the ongoing works at Ardrishaig the bus stop is closed, a temporary bus stop is located approximately 100m south of the original bus stop adjacent to the southern car park.

Due to the Ardrishaig Public Realm regeneration works, the north car park in Ardrishaig will be closed from 29th August 2022 to April 2023.

The south car park should remain available and unaffected during the works.

Access to the public toilet and North Hall will also remain during the period of works and pedestrians should follow any safety signage in these locations.

The Argyll Kayak Trail launch point will be closed but alternative access to the shore can be found south of Ardrishaig Harbour.

The B8001 Skipness to Claonaig is open.

The road had previously suffered some damage which has been temporarily repaired.

The road will ultimately need to be realigned – survey and design work is currently ongoing.

We require the assistance of SSE for a new connection. We have requested a quote for this work and once this has been accepted we will provide a further update advising of a target completion date

** Due to the volume of traffic at this location this work has been scheduled for January to minimise disruption as much as possible 

After further innvestigation the streetlighting on Lynn road requires a new supply connection. We have requested this from SSE and will provide an update to this notice once we have a target completion date from them

Dark lamps in Oban will be attended to as part of the ongoing LED replacement scheme 

Please do not report dark lamps until the LED scheme has completed. 

 

The scheme is scheduled to complete in 3 weeks and we will update our page when this has finished.

On Wednesday 29th March there will be a power outage at Gartbreck landfill site on Islay.

The site will remain open however our weigh bridge facility will not be in use. This means that any commercial waste customer visiting the site will be charged the maximun carrying capacity of the vehicle used to take the waste to site

We advise that all commercail waste customer hold on to their waste until power has bee restored

Our Council Tax Portal is currently unavailable due to a fault – this is ongoing with our software company who are dealing with it as a matter of urgency. This means you will not be able to log into your council tax account at this time. If you do try to login in, you will get an error message.
