The A83 has reopened via the Old Military Road local diversion after being given the green light following a safety assessment.

The road  is now operating under a convoy system, subject to safety, as a local diversion for road users at the Rest and Be Thankful.

Castle Street Port Bannatyne Road Closure Last updated: 16 Jun 2020 - 12:40 (originally posted: 11 May 2020 - 12:22)

Castle Street - Port Bannatyne on the Isle of Bute remains temporarily closed due to a dangerous building at No. 21 Castle Street.

Diversions are in place but the closure will restrict on-street parking.

The Council's Building Control Officers are working with others to have the safety concerns addressed as quickly as possible.

Updates on progress and the re-opening of the street will be provided as soon as they are available.

Temporary changes have been made to our rubbish and recycling collections for households and businesses - from Monday 22nd June  household and business rubbish and recyling collections are starting to return to normal.

Household glass collections resumed in Helensburgh and Lomond from 6th July - food waste collections in this area will resume from 17th August

Due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak and government instructions for workers and members of the public to reduce unnecessary exposure, a revised Summer timetable will be put in place on the Islay to Jura ferry for a temporary period. This will aid in minimising crew exposure in order for the vessel to continue service.
