Duchess Wood, Helensburgh, closed until further notice Last updated: 3 Jul 2019 - 10:59 (originally posted: 3 Jul 2019 - 10:59)

In order to ensure public safety, a decision has been made to close Duchess Wood in Helensburgh until further notice.

Part of the on-going management and maintenance of Duchess Wood includes undertaking a survey of the condition of the woodland.

Unfortunately, the most recent survey has highlighted a number of safety issues which need to be addressed, including urgent remedial works to trees.

We have therefore been advised it is necessary to close the woodland whilst necessary works are completed. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

BEAR Scotland are proposing to carry out resurfacing works on the A85 trunk road at Dunira Bends east of St Fillans starting from Wednesday 9th October for 2 nights between 7pm and 7am. No work is planned for Friday or Saturday nights.

Due to restricted road widths within this section, the road will be closed to ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public. The A85 will therefore be closed in both directions each night. With no suitable trunk road diversion available, amnesty periods will be provided at the following times:

Motorists are encouraged to arrive prior to these times to ensure they can be accommodated within the amnesty period. Emergency services and access for local residents will be maintained at all times.
