Crossroads Cowal and Bute Carers Centre provides a ‘needs lead’ service. We offer a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere where carers can talk about their caring role in a confidential and non-judgemental way. Our team has helped many carers manage their caring responsibilities despite challenging circumstances. At Crossroads we aim to put the carers at the heart of all support and ensure that their voice is listened to. We also provide information sessions and invite speakers to meet with groups of carers on carer related topics and important sessions such as Fire Safety, Benefits Advice and Telecare. We focus closely on improving the health & wellbeing of Carers through a variety of strategies which can be delivered directly in the carers home or in a group setting. Once we have identified the carers needs we can offer help and support in various ways.
Our Young Carers Service supports young people aged 5 to 24 in Cowal & Bute, providing school lunchtime drop-ins, weekly after school activities, social events, days out, holiday activities, residentials, one to one support, advocacy, home visits. The young carers in the community are invaluable and without the support they provide to their families, so many people would struggle to go about their daily lives.
