How we work
The Council’s Constitution sets out how the council operates, how decisions are made and the procedures that are followed to ensure that these are efficient, transparent and accountable to local people.
Equalities: We believe in the principle of equality and opportunity: everyone should have the chance to succeed. We are committed to putting equality and fairness into action.
GDPR: We take data protection steps to ensure that we handle information securely.
FOI: We make information about our work available in different ways, for example through this website, our social media channels, or keep in the loop service. We also respond to Freedom of Information requests.
Councillors make decisions on area-wide and local area matters at council committee meetings. Reports for consideration at these meetings are published on our website a week in advance. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
We publish copies of our audited accounts on this website.
We purchase services and supplies to support the work we do every day across Argyll and Bute..
Our Procurement and Commissioning Strategies set out our approach to achieving best value from what we spend: sustainable procurement; procurement strategies.
Council services are scrutinised and assessed in different ways. You can find out more on our performance pages.
You can work with us in making change and improvement where needed.
Have you had good or bad customer service? You can leave comments or make complaints.
Planning applications: we publish planning applications for comment on this website.
Consultations: we consult on different aspects of our work. We would love to hear your views.
