75 groups awarded funding from Supporting Communities Fund

A total of 75 projects across Argyll and Bute will receive funding from the council’s Supporting Communities Fund after councillors approved their applications for support.

Each of the four Local Area Committees have approved funding for successful applicants in their local areas, with a total of £108,500 being allocated.

In Bute and Cowal, £27,060 will be shared across 19 successful projects, while 17 projects in Helensburgh and Lomond will get a share of £30,320. In Mid Argyll, Kintyre and the Islands, 15 projects will get a share of £25,869, and in Oban, Lorn and the Isles, £25,250 will be shared across 24 projects.

A full list of the successful groups and projects can be viewed below.

Councillor Robin Currie, Policy Lead for Communities, said: “The standard of applications for the 2019/2020 Supporting Communities Fund was very high, and councillors on each of the local Area Committees had a difficult task selecting which groups should get funding.

“I’m pleased that so many great community groups will receive this funding and be able to progress with their projects, all of which will be of benefit to their local areas.”

Groups were able to apply for up to 100% of the total funding costs for their project or activity, with the maximum award available being £2500. The fund is aimed at supporting community projects which benefit the local community.

Each of the four areas receives an equal fund to distribute. Differences in totals are due to the return of funds from previous grant applicants.

Groups can sign up for the council’s monthly Funding Alert, search the Grantnet funding database and read other funding-related updates on the council website at /community-life-and-leisure/grants-and-funding

Community groups can also contact the council’s Community Development team for support and advice about projects they are looking to deliver. The team can be reached by email on communitydevelopment@argyll-bute.gov.uk
